Richmond Community Services works with all media to educate the public about the special needs and opportunities of children and adults with significant physical and intellectual disabilities. We give them accurate, up-to-date information about: the issues and successes of the individuals we support, our donors, volunteers, staff and the need for private contributions and volunteers at all times – but especially now with reduced government funding and increased demand for our specialized services.

Quality of Life Volunteer Spirit Award awarded to Dr. Louis Thomason

                                                                                                                                                  Louis Thomason, Ph.D. of Chappaqua will be been honored with the Volunteer Center’s 2012 Quality of Life Volunteer Spirit Award for his many contributions to Richmond Community Services.

As a retired IBM executive with over 40 years of experience in advanced internet design and management, Dr. Louis Thomason’s professional expertise was channeled for new and inspirational usage, enhancing assistive technology for people with significant intellectual disabilities and designing an intranet platform to facilitate internal staff knowledge sharing.

Joseph Pugni, Jr. Elected to the Richmond Community Services Board of Directors

Richmond Community Services announces that Joseph R. Pugni, Jr. of Valhalla was unanimously elected to the Richmond Community Services Board of Directors as of April 12, 2012.

Joseph Pugni Jr. has been actively involved with Richmond Community Services for over six years. He began serving on the Richmond Community Services Foundation Board in 2009 and was elected Chairman of the Foundation Board in February of 2010.

The Goldman Playscape – Making the Outdoors Accessible

The dream of a Playscape became a reality for the six young men and women with developmental disabilities who live at the Goldman House in Bedford, and their families.  The Playscape Ribbon Cutting took place on August 9th. The dedication, touGoldman Playscape Dedicationr and barbeque went smoothly without a drop of rain, which held back until the festivities were over. Give Through Golf Outing Hits a Hole in One

The eighth annual “Give Through Golf Outing,” held on August 8, raised $150,000 for children and adults with developmental disabilities and complex health issues who are served by Richmond Community Services. The event, held at Old Westbury Golf & Country Club on Long Island, featured a day on the links for 116 golfers, a cocktail reception, dinner and auction.
