Richmond's New Brochure Will Bring a Tear to Your Eyes and a Smile to Your Heart

Joyous expressions of pride, gratitude and pleasure expressed in words and photographs bring alive in our new brochure the essence of what it means to be part of Richmond Community Services.

“I’ve been able to put my head down on my pillow and sleep each night for the past 26 years knowing my daughter is getting excellent round-the-clock care,” said one parent.

Prospective donors, individuals with significant disabilities and their families, job applicants, potential volunteers and our neighbors will immediately appreciate Richmond’s proud history of providing expert support and enhancing the abilities of the most fragile among us.

TD Bank Awards Community Outreach Grant

December 23, 2009, Mount Kisco, N.Y. – Richmond Community Services Foundation has received a $4,000 grant to support its community outreach program from TD Bank, said Ed Spauster, Ph.D., President and CEO.

The grant from TD Bank will be used to expand Richmond’s volunteer program and heighten the awareness of people in the community about individuals who have developmental disabilities. Outreach efforts will include corporations, local businesses and community organizations – religious groups, school groups, senior centers, civic organizations, philanthropy clubs.

“Our growing program of building connections with neighbors throughout Westchester County has resulted in amazing educational experiences and therapeutic recreation for the individuals we support, as well as influx of new volunteers and donors for the Richmond community,” Spauster said. “We are grateful to TD Bank for its grant and support of our efforts.”

Yonkers Motorcycle Club Gives Cheer for the Holiday

Yonkers Motorcycle Club Members Give Presents and Dispense Holiday Cheer

To Children and Adults with Significant Disabilities at Richmond Community Services Residence

Members of the Yonkers Motorcycle Club traded their black leather attire for Santa Claus and elves costumes to present gifts to children and adults with significant intellectual and physical disabilities at a Richmond Community Services holiday party at its 919 N. Broadway residence Dec. 13.

The club, which has been bringing toys to the residence for more than a dozen years, chose to devote its toy collecting – and dispensing – activities to Richmond because of its interest in children with disabilities and the successes the Mount Kisco based organization has had in providing positive recreational experiences for the people it assists.  More than 70 children and young adults at the Yonkers residence, as well as their caregivers, were in attendance.

Adam Kintish and Donna Torre Appointed to RCSF Board

Adam Kintish and Donna Torre

Appointed to Richmond Community Services Foundation Board

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y., Jan, __, 2010 – The appointments of Adam Kintish and Donna M. Torre, M.D. to the Richmond Community Services Foundation Board have been announced by Edward Spauster, Ph.D., president and CEO of the agency that provides round-the-clock support to children and adults with significant physical and intellectual disabilities.

Kintish, a resident of Yorktown, is vice president and regional sales manager for TD Bank. Dr. Torre, an Irvington resident who specializes in internal medicine, works for Executive Health Exams (EHE) where she manages stress testing in its New York and Connecticut offices.

“We are delighted with the additions of Adam and Donna to the board because they each bring expertise that will be invaluable to our Foundation in an environment marked by increased longevity of the people we support, under-funded cutting edge services and cutbacks in governmental financial assistance,” said Spauster.

He noted that Kintish has been exceedingly active in shaping TD Bank partnerships with non-profits to address critical societal issues, while Torre has worked as an attending physician and rehabilitative specialist at Northern Westchester’s Cardiac Rehabilitation unit prior to joining EHE in 2001.  Additionally, Kintish promotes community involvement through volunteerism at TD Bank and Torre has been a co-guardian of one of the residents at Richmond’s Shevell House in Yonkers.

“This is an added one-two punch of community team-building and medical expertise that will generate many benefits for the individuals and families we support,” said Board Chair David Brenner.  Brenner is also chairman of the Richmond Community Services Board of Directors.
